Importance of Beliefs in Your 40s

and why they matter especially in Perimenopause and Menopause

There is something magical happening now I’m in my mid forties a new version is stirring inside. One that is speaking her mind, letting go of people pleasing and feeling like.. how can I put this… more like me than ever before. Does it feel uncomfortable with some rebellious energy absolutely and also it’s exciting too.

Maybe you are also feeling it too? That something is bubbling underneath the surface, a new truth and authentic energy one that knows her own mind.

This is 40… your beautiful brain while she might feel a bit foggy and not as sharp as she once was is going through a major renovation. For anyone who has been through their own renovation project, you know it’s a bit dusty and there isn’t a specific time limit. This is the same for your Menopause Journey as your brain rewires itself to prepare you for the next chapter that does not include the push and pull of your monthly menstrual cycle. You become Moon Drivers which I personally adore!

As you go through your neurological upgrade which by the way will help you with intuition, emotional clarity, boundaries and prepare you for your Zero FKs Era… bring it on!

Now is the time to review what beliefs you can let go of that no longer serve you. What can you leave behind as you step into this new chapter? People pleasing, playing it small, shrinking self… in the words of Elsa it is time to let it go.

Did you know that your subconscious mind, controls 95% of the show. Your thoughts the way you show up in this world are all governed by what I call a Belief Soundtrack® in your Subconscious. If you feel stuck, frustrated and let’s be honest sometimes bored with your life, there is most likely a belief playing out of tune that is stopping you from reaching the happiness your desire.

Maybe you might find that there has been over the years a slow resignation that life is all downhill. This can result in walking backwards through life, powerfully believing that the best years are behind you.

For many women they will spend 40% of their life post menopausal. 40% of their life is a whopping amount of time and a long backward walk longing for a moment that has already happened.

Beliefs are so powerful, this is why it is important to edit and cultivate a positive and resilient Belief Soundtrack that empowers you to not just survive but live fully in this life. We only have one life and last time I checked, it was not set in stone that only people in their 20s were allowed to have fun, be ambitious and go for their dreams.

Here are five powerful belief questions to support you in your shift.

1. Is this belief even yours?

Let’s start here. Is this belief that you have such as I must be a size XYZ to be in a bikini actually yours or was it created from a red cereal commercial and growing up in decades that scrutinised women’s bodies and brought out size 0 and wonderbra simultaneously…. I’m looking at you 90s and 00s. In this healing space and letting go of beliefs it can feel reassuring that this belief is not yours or yours to carry.

2. What is this belief trying to protect you from?

If this belief had a job or role, what would it be doing for you? What is it afraid might happen if you let it go? Do you secretly wish you could start a new side hustle, always wanted to take a turn as a comedian on stage and yet there is a little voice that holds you back. Tune into that voice, you might find it is little you and give her a hug and reassure her from your wise older self.

3. If your thoughts were a Spotify playlist, would you hit repeat or delete?

Would you actually play this belief every morning if it were a song? If not, what would you love to listen to instead? What do you want to hear when you start the day and start bringing that in.

4. What belief would your future glorious self choose instead?

Imagine yourself five years from now, full of confidence, peace and energy. What would she believe about this situation? Could it be that dreams do not have an expiry date?

5. What’s one tiny, doable action you could take today to prove that new belief is possible?

If you were to act as if your new belief were true (just for today) what would you do differently? How would walk, talk and be? Try it and see.

I would love to hear how you get on and what beliefs you are letting go and embracing in your 40s and beyond.

Much love

Jo xx
